Is Westworld based on Kafkaesque ideas? Isn’t it very Kafkaesque!? Even the bureaucracy of the organization under Dr. Robert Ford (Anthony Hopkins) itself. Also isn’t he a “prisoner of his own ego”? And his characters’ “struggles that come from within”
And characters waking up, not as bugs but, as someone they don’t recognize as being themselves.
“By fine-tuning our attention to the absurd… Kafka also reflects our shortcomings back at ourselves. In doing so, he reminds us that the world we live in is one we create, and have the power to change for the better.”
Ps. Compare the piano-tunes in Westworld with the Kafka (1991) soundtrack. Ds.
Kafka. (1991). [film] USA: Steven Soderbergh.
